We are delighted to receive e-mails from "walkers" who've enjoyed our tours all through the year. Here is a small choice…

"no one has matched Hannah and Henry"
We've just got back from two weeks in Berlin, Riga and Vilnius. Our stay in Berlin was made by two superb walks with your guides. » Hannah took us round the Jewish area and » Henry showed us historical Berlin. They were storytellers who simply love the city. We have been on many tours in many cities, but no-one has matched Hannah and Henry.
J and M Pindar, Bolton, UK August 2005

"fantastic walking tour"
I took my 15 year old nephew to Berlin for his birthday, how fortunate we were to choose the fantastic walking tour led by » Edo. He was so knowledgeable, approachable, fun and professional. He made our short visit a fascinating, memorable trip
L Dunne, UK, 21st November 2005

"brought the city's history and culture to life"
Thank you for organising such a wonderful tour. The tour guide, » Ida, was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic and brought the city's history and culture to life in ways that no guide books could ever have done. Even the weather failed to dampen her enthusiasm throughout! I will certainly recommend your tours to friends and colleagues.
Dr J Lewis, 22nd November 2005

"a most moving tour"
My partner and I joined this walk, guided by » Edo, on Tuesday 6 September and would like to comment how well this tour was conducted by him. There was quite a large group which Edo handled very well, and his obvious knowledge and passion for the subject were clear. This was a most moving tour, and his handling of the subject was thoroughly excellent. Please pass our grateful thanks on to him.
L Holbrook, Bath, UK September 2005

"undoubted highlight of our trip"
My group of docs had a thoroughly enjoyable day in Berlin on Tuesday and the walking tour was the undoubted highlight of our trip. » Henry was a really excellent guide
Dr P Heatley, Hemel Hempstead UK, 24th November 2005

"thoughtful and informed approach"
I joined in the tour of Sachsenhausen on Tuesday, led by » Fabian, who explained the history of the site for us very clearly but without oversimplifying. His thoughtful and informed approach was clearly the result of much hard work behind the scenes
F Creedy, London, 10th February 2006

"best tour guide I've had"
We had a wonderful time on Sunday 25th walking around Berlin with » Fabian. He was the best tour guide I've had in at least 10 cities where I've gone on similar city tours. He was so informative, entertaining and patient with us as we ended up going for about 5 hours (instead of 4) and he came out with us for a drink afterwards. I will highly recommend him and Berlin Walks to others. Thanks.
Tamara & Mark, Australia September 2005

"terrific"
This is a short note to thank » Ida again for the terrific tour of Sachenhausen she led on June 3rd. She's a terrific guide possessing not only a vast knowledge of the subject but also tremendous skill in conveying the terrible history of the site. When I return to Berlin I will certainly be taking more of your company's walks. I was extremely impressed by the frequency of your walks and the obvious skill of your guides (if Ida is any indication!). It was great to just "show up" and buy a ticket the day I felt like doing the tour.
N Rolle, Toronto June 2005

"a healthy philosophy of his subject"
Last week my grandson & I took your "Infamous Third Reich Sites" walk with » Mort. Mort is great; knowledgeable and fun with a healthy philosophy of his subject.
J Wilkins, USA June 2005

"highly recommend tourists do the tour"
Thank you for pairing us with » Torben in Berlin. He was an excellent guide. We called you Friday morning October 7th asking for a private tour. Within an hour, you arranged something for us. Torben told us that he is a history major at Humboldt University. History is his strength. He shares information in an interesting way and was patient with all our questions. We loved walking and taking the train. I highly recommend that tourists do the walking tour. I also thought it was affordable.
J and J Templin, October 2005

"professional, knowledgeable, lovely, gracious"
Having just returned from Berlin, we hasten to tell you that one of the highlights of our interesting visit was our Berlin Walk with » Sarah. Besides being most professional and knowledgeable, she is a lovely and most gracious person. Your organization is fortunate to have representatives such as her. We are heartily recommending your services to our friends and family.
D and E Hillman, NY May 2005

"brought history to life"
Just a short note to say how much we enjoyed our waking tour the other day. » Kristin was great, she had so much knowledge and patience with answering everyone's questions. It really brought the history of Berlin to life for my wife and I. She also gave us directions to a vegetarian cafe to visit - which worked out great. Once again many thanks.
M and L Durkin, Christchurch, New Zealand September 2005

"far exceeded our expectations"
Just wanted to say thanks to » Edo for the fantastic tour. The team thought his knowledge was excellent and far exceeded our expectations. It was not an easy task considering we had only a few hours sleep that night, but everyone enjoyed the afternoon.
S Blanch, November 2005

"making the sites come alive"
On Wednesday we took one of your tours, the "The Third Reich Sites". » Ida was our guide and she was fantastic! She did a great job making the sites come alive and with her enthusiasm and skills managed to keep up our spirits throughout the tour although the weather was cold and rainy. If all your guides are as good as Ida, I can only send my congratulations! Next time we visit Berlin we‘ll definitely take another of your tours, probably the Sachsenhausen tour or Jewish life in Berlin.
K Sjostrand, Sweden October 2005

"Fabulous"
I'm a US professor teaching at Uni-Lüneburg near Hamburg. Two of my friends and I took the general Berlin Walks tour with » Fabian a few weekends back. Fabulous.
P Traudt, Hamburg October 2005

"saw so much more than on our own"
I did the Discover Berlin Walk with your guide » Sarah on Saturday morning (15 Oct 2005). It was fantastic!!! Sarah was knowledgeable and very dynamic. My friend and I both said that we saw so much more than we would have on our own. Thanks!
D Leong, October 2005

"WONDERFUL"
Just a quick message to say that my travelling companions and I took a Berlin all-the-sights tour on Monday 17 October with » Henry and we had a WONDERFUL and very interesting time. Please pass on our thanks to Henry for his informative and good- humoured guiding. We will definitely recommend your tours to friends and colleagues.
S Cornforth, London October 2005

"excellent"
We caught » Kristin at "Zoo" and had a great morning. She was excellent and we really enjoyed the walk. This was the 4th walk I had done with you over the last 6 years and Kristin was the most informative of all the guides and she has a really nice delivery. She really seemed to enjoy her work!
C Langford, September 2005

"first-rate"
I just wanted to tell you what a wonderful experience I had on my Third Reich tour with » Edo last Saturday. His knowledge, presentation and command of the subject were all first-rate, and he was a delight to be with besides. The tour was one of the highlights of a very eventful trip to Berlin.
W Coffey, New York September 2005

"Berlin Then and Now book – fascinating"
Just thought I should send » Nick a quick belated thanks for the personal tour around Berlin a few weeks back; I really enjoyed it. I was in a bookstore yesterday here in Melbourne and came across your Berlin Then and Now book which I found fascinating and very well put together. I hadn't noticed your name on the cover when I picked it up but it's nice to know I had time with someone of your knowledge giving me some very interesting background on events in Berlin.
P Trevan, Melbourne September 2005

"interesting and funny afternoon"
I joined the Discover Berlin tour with » Kristin last Sunday at 3pm. Just wanted to mention that she did a great job. Even if for me as a German there was not too much new information the time was well invested. Thanks for an interesting and funny afternoon.
S Herb, Germany August 2005

"walks different every time"
Just a quick note of thanks and to say how much we really enjoyed and appreciated the Third Reich Tour that my father and I did on Sunday 19th June. Our tour guide was » Mort who was terrific, extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. It's the third time I've been to Berlin and the walks are different every time both in route and in perspective provided by the guide. If you would be so kind as to pass on my regards and thanks to Mort for making it such a splendid morning.
D and J Wells, Nuneaton, UK August 2005

"THE highlights of my trip"
My first visit to Berlin (July 22-24, 2005) was tremendously enhanced by attending three of your walking tours: Discover, Third Reich & Potsdam. The enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides (» Henry, » Mort & » Hannah) brought each unique era to life. I recommended the Discover Berlin tour to friends whose late arrival left them with only one full day to see Berlin. At the end of our two week vacation, they voted the Discover Berlin walking tour THE highlight of the trip which included quite impressive competition such as St. Petersburg & Moscow. Your tours certainly were THE highlights of my trip. Thank you for enriching my Berlin experience!
M Bransfield July 2005

"KICK-ASS!!!"
Ended up on the Third Reich Tour. » Henry was our guide and was KICK-ASS!!! Thanks!
S Andrejczuk July 2005

"a gem"
Just thought I'd drop a quick note to let you know you've got a gem in » Hannah. I went on the Potsdam tour on Sunday, June 19th, with Hannah as the guide. It was a tremendous walk and Hannah knew the details of everything we passed. She really took us back in time. It was difficult getting on the train to leave Potsdam and arrive back in the 21st century. I'd rather stay lost in the 18th!
T Gullitti, Ann Arbour June 2005

"insightful account without straying into ghoulishness"
Our guide, » Gabriel, gave an insightful account of the use of architecture by the National Socialists and introduced us to buildings and sites that we would have otherwise missed during our stay in Berlin. It was great to hear about the history of the city whilst standing on the spot where events took place, I'd recommend the tour to anyone wanting to learn more about Berlin‘s war time history without straying into voyeuristic ghoulishness.
L James, UK June 2005

"articulate and well-informed"
I was in Berlin last week with three friends and we took two of your tours; both were excellent - » Hannah on Discover Berlin, the perfect way to get oriented to the city, and Sachsenhausen with » Fabian; both were articulate and well-informed and dealt with the issues around Berlin and WW II with sensitivity; it is not easy to find the right balance in showing people around a concentration camp but Fabian did it most professionally; then at the end of quite a long tour, when I though Hannah might be flagging (and looking at her watch!), she gave an extensive and colourful description of the wall going down - great.
M Punch June 2005

"very satisfied"
I would like to thank you very much for an excellent guided tour, and a superb guide in » Gabriel. It was all we wanted and we are very satisfied. We will absolutely recommend your services to anyone planning a trip to Berlin.
H Bäck, Sweden May 2005

"learnt so much and had fun"
I participated in a Discover Berlin Walk with two of my friends from Chicago. Our tour guide was » Ida - it was a great experience. We learnt so much and had fun at the same time, thanks to Ida's excellent knowledge base and superb speaking skills. I also really liked Ida's pleasant and outgoing personality.
R. Wood, Chicago May 2005

"a lot of interesting information"
I'm just sending you an e-mail to let you know that we (my boyfriend and I) really enjoyed our Berlin walking tour to Sachsenhausen. We were guided by » Sarah. The tour was excellent, Sarah gave us (a small group of six people) a lot of interesting information that we wouldn't have known otherwise. She was very friendly and helpful. We were very sorry that we took the tour on our last day in Berlin, otherwise we would definitely have joined other tours.
M Andriessen, The Netherlands, May 2005

"fascinating"
Thank you so much for giving us such a fascinating guided tour of Berlin last Thursday; it helped us identify those attractions that we wanted to re-visit later in our stay.
L Howden-Moss, May 2005

"guides – a positive asset"
I really can't speak too highly of the two guides that I met - Christina on the Sachsenhausen tour and » Kristin on the Berlin walk. Both guides provided interesting and highly knowledgeable commentaries and were wonderfully helpful and friendly - in my view they represent a positive asset to the Company and a great advertisement for the excellent experience that Berlin Walks provides.
Dr C Hutton, UK, April 2005

"amazing insight"
We just wanted to say how much we thoroughly enjoyed the tour, particularly the stories and personal accounts from » Fabian. He provided us with amazing insight into so much of the city and it´s history in just half a day. Thank You for making this one of the highlights of our travels through Europe so far.
J and R Smith, Melbourne, March 2005

"infectiously enthusiastic"
» Ida was infectiously enthusiastic about the city as well as hugely well-informed - a fantastic guide. I thought the tour was so well-structured and accessible and at the same time meaty and in-depth. My thanks to her for bringing the city's history to life for me and for a very memorable day.
N Robinson, March 2005

"excellent tour"
We had an excellent tour with » Fabian on Tuesday, many thanks, we all really enjoyed ourselves.
L Sarakinsky, Accenture, London March 2005

"perfect amount of detail"
I arrived for the Berlin Walking Tour on Saturday and had a wonderful tour of Berlin with » Ida . I brought a couple of friends from the US with me and about 4 others from UK. We were all quite delighted with the tour and our compliments to Ida for the great job. It went into the perfect amount of detail and the added stories were great.
D Watson, March 2005

"totally enjoyed 3rd Reich Tour"
My friend and I took the 3rd Reich Walking tour today with » Fabian. He did an amazing job. He was so knowledgeable and well informed about all aspects of history. No wonder, as he told us he is getting his PhD in this topic. We totally enjoyed the tour, his explanations and commentary. It was a real treat. Thank you.
A Raad and L Denny, March 2005

"just brilliant"
Please say thank you to Christina for her excellent walk in very snowy conditions, it was just brilliant. I was in Berlin with my husband and we were provided with an "official tour" in a bus for all the course attendees and wives, but it wasn't a patch on yours!
T Bell, February 2005

"real entertainer"
We thoroughly enjoyed our walk with » Henry. He is a real entertainer and the walk has everything for everyone.
A Slorach, February 2005

"interesting, informative, entertaining"
Our family had the great privilege of » Hannah as our tour guide when we visited in August 2004. The Sunday morning was rainy and cold but Hannah was so interesting, informative and entertaining that we didn't notice the weather at all.
The Baldwin Family from California, January 2005

"wonderful time"
When we were in Berlin last summer we were on a walking tour with Berlin Walks. We had the most wonderful time and recommend it to everyone we know who travels to Berlin.
Brown Family, January 2005

"everyone should do this!"
The Discover Berlin walk was the perfect introduction to Berlin - everyone should do this! Our guide » Fabian was excellent. On a sunny winter morning in December he provided an extremely interesting and often amusing insight into the colorful history of this fascinating city.
P Buckels, December 2004

"never enjoyed sightseeing so much!"
I just wanted to compliment you on your fantastic walking tours of the Berlin sights. We had a family holiday in July, spending a week in Berlin, and the four walks/trips we went on, absolutely "made" the holiday for us all. I have never enjoyed sightseeing so much! We had walks with » Gabriel, » Henry (twice) and » Ida , and all were excellent.
D Anderson, Scotland, December 2004

"wet, but it was worth it"
» Henry was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and it is a testament to him that everyone completed the whole walk even though we were in the middle of a thunderstorm and we were not prepared for the rain. We all ended the trip soaking wet but it was worth it.
J Hine, UK, November 2004

"clear, pleasant manner"
Christina did an excellent job in communicating with ALL of us, in a clear and pleasant manner. Even though I am somewhat of a history buff and lived in Europe during World War II, as well as in Germany from 1974-1979, I learned a lot about the country, its history and its culture from Christina.
P Vos, Arizona, October 2004

"most rewarding tours"
… we feared your brochure was exaggerating, but the tours were indeed extremely interesting, back ground passionately told by » Fabian, many insights, with a lot of enthusiasm. The most rewarding tours we ever had. (From the Dutch couple who did 2 tours in one week).
I and A Hollinga, Holland, October 2004

"the content blew us away"
We joined Christina on the "Discover Berlin" tour and » Sarah on the "Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial Tour". Both of these tours were incredible. The content blew us both away, so much to learn and experience, but presented with so much passion and in a way that both of us were able to retain so much.
J and J Morris, Australia, September 2004

"very enthusiastic, cool and helpful"
You really need the right people to point you to the right direction and that's what you guys from BERLIN WALKS did for me. I would like to thank » Sarah, Robbie and » Hannah. It was not just as you guys were paid for doing a job but all of you were in fact very enthusiastic, cool and helpful.
G Benati, Italy, August 2004

"we got to see so much…"
… the best thing we did was have a walking tour with » Henry. It was an excellent way to see the city and Henry's narrative made the whole event a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I can't believe we got to see so much in the 4 hours without it seeming rushed!
R Bird, UK, August 2004

"wit and cheerful disposition"
In addition to his (» Henry's) extensive knowledge of Berlin history, he managed to liven up the entire atmosphere and capture the attention of his audience through his wit and cheerful disposition. As a person who is perpetually grouchy in the mornings, I found myself actually listening intensely to the things that he was saying and that was quite an achievement.
S Lim, Singapore, June 2004

"thoughtful, respectful, honest"
The history of the 20th Century just came alive in that 4 hours. » Gabriel was our guide. A most talented and informative young man. We appreciated the direct discussion of Hitler and his time in history. It was presented in a thoughtful and respectful but honest manner. It made the information and the tour even more special. You provide a great service at a most reasonable price! Keep up the good work. Thank you.
K and A Ciabattoni, San Francisco, May 2004

"informative and good fun too!"
Thought we would drop you a line to say how much we enjoyed both the walk and the visit to Sachsenhausen. Both Robbie and » Gabriel were excellent guides - our students could not speak highly enough of them! Informative and good fun, too.
A Parkes, UK, March 2004

"highlight of my trip"
… this tour was the highlight of my trip, and I really appreciated your insight and information on both the historical aspects, as well as modern influences since the fall of the Berlin Wall. I also wanted to let you know that the other night I was watching the Discovery Channel, and they had a documentary on about "Hidden Berlin" in which you were featured. Once again, you did a fine job of representing this fine and vibrant city! Keep up the good work!
International School of Rotterdam, April 2004

"We saved the best for last"
Recently, a group of us had the pleasure of visiting Budapest, Vienna, Prague and Berlin. During our 16 day escapade, we participated in a city tour at each location . Well, I can honestly say, "We saved the best for last." Our Berlin Walks tour was exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with Ethan (loved his enthusiasm and appreciated his knowledge) and now have a great admiration for the wonderful city of Berlin.
