Berlin has long been known as the vegan capital of Europe and is arguably one of the top vegan-friendly places in the world. Whether you are just inspired by ‘Veganuary’ or a lifelong vegan lifestyle convert, here are a few tips from us at Original Berlin Walks about the top vegan eateries in the city.

Although more of a café, Brammibal’s is possibly Berlin’s most popular vegan food spot, offering colourful and creative flavours of 100% vegan donuts. They also offer vegan cinnamon rolls and coffee with a range of milk alternatives with several hip and welcoming locations around the capital.

Their staff are friendly and usually very international, so you can easily order in English. Eat in or take a yummy box of donuts to go.

Each month Brammibal’s selects one flavour as a charity donut, with the profits going towards supporting a local Berlin charity. Why not be a sustainable tourist and indulge your sweet tooth at the same time?

Located in the heart of trendy Friedrichshain, 1990 Vegan Living is a local hotspot, serving delicious bowls of noodles, crispy tofu and fresh veggies. As the founding year in the restaurant's name suggests, it is also one of Berlin’s oldest 100% Vegan eateries.

The promise of this team is to provide brilliant dishes made of “fresh ingredients of the highest quality prepared in perfection”, and they sure do deliver. Considering they have over 15 thousand followers on Instagram, it is recommended to reserve a table in advance online to secure a table.

Located in the edgy Berlin district of Neukölln, this 100% Vegan restaurant collective offers tasty Italian cuisine at reasonable prices. For starters, there is a great Antipasti selection of fresh Mediterranean flavours to choose from. The menu continues with enticing ‘red’ or ‘white’ pizzas with aromatic dough crusts and vegan cheese, fresh from the fiery pizza oven. Make sure you leave room for dessert, as the ‘star of the show’ is by far the vegan Tiramisu. Bellissimo!

Gourmet, 100% vegan and the first premier fine dining climate neutral restaurant in Europe; Kopps is unique. It is clear to see why CNN listed Kopps as one of the best vegan restaurants in the world. Each dish looks like artwork from local and seasonal organic produce. The innovative 7-course-menu is highly recommended and can also be ordered with a great alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks pairing. There is also a tempting cocktail menu. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made online via their website.

It would not be possible to write a food blog about Berlin without mentioning the trademark of the city - Döner Kebab. However how about a Berlin classic with a 100% vegan twist? Yes, that is the classic product invented over 10 years ago at Vöner - the first vegan kebab of Berlin.

At Vöner, a Berlin original meets a conscious and vegan lifestyle plus the vibrancy of Turkish street food. Prepared fresh every day using vegetables, lentils, soya and wheat proteins with tangy herbs and spices, the vegan kebab is served in toasted pita bread or as a wrap with fresh salad and homemade sauces. A must try for any vegan visitors to Berlin!
