How to Visit the Reichstag in Berlin: Dome Booking & Tips

The Reichstag is the building; the Bundestag is Germany’s federal parliament, which meets inside it. Visiting the glass dome offers a different perspective on Berlin’s parliamentary district.

Use the official Bundestag booking form. Have every visitor’s first name, surname and date of birth ready. Your request becomes a booking only when the Visitors’ Service sends confirmation.
Dome requests currently cover the current month and the following month. Confirmed visits can still be affected by parliamentary business, weather or security conditions.

Can you visit without booking ahead?
Enquire at the Visitors’ Service centre on Platz der Republik in front of the Reichstag. Places depend on availability; confirmation must be issued at least two hours before your visit. Walking up does not guarantee entry.
What should you bring and check?
Visitors aged 16 and over need valid official photo ID. Those aged 14–15 should bring a document with their name and photo. Bring original identification. Follow your confirmation and the Bundestag’s current entry requirements, including restrictions on items.
Check official dome visitor information for closures, service-centre hours and admission times. Last admission is currently listed as 21:45. The dome can close for maintenance while the roof terrace remains accessible.
A dome booking does not automatically include an interior parliamentary tour. Choose the visit format you want, and leave time for entry checks. Ask the Visitors’ Service about accessibility needs before booking.

Use Käfer’s official reservation page for a meal on the roof. Dining is a paid experience with separate arrangements. Follow the restaurant’s instructions; do not assume a table reservation guarantees every other part of a Reichstag visit.
